I recently tried this meatball casserole, and wow, it was a hit! It’s the perfect cozy meal for any day of the week. The combination of tender meatballs, rich tomato sauce, and gooey cheese is just unbeatable. Here’s how to make it:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil, for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix the meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, milk, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.
- Form the meatballs: Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until they are browned and cooked through.
- Prepare the casserole: Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange the meatballs on top, then pour the remaining marinara sauce over them.
- Add the cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the meatballs and sauce.
- Bake: Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and serve: Let the casserole cool slightly, then garnish with fresh basil before serving.
