I once tried this recipe on a famous fast food chain, and surprisingly I didn't know chicken and orange were a thing, so looked for a recipe, and viola! Here's a simple recipe for Orange Chicken that you can make at home: šŸ—šŸŠ

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
For the Sauce:

  • 3/4 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed is best)
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar or white vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
Optional Garnish:

  • Sliced green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
    • Place the flour in a shallow bowl. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour until evenly coated, shaking off any excess.
  2. Cook the Chicken:
    • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
    • Add the coated chicken pieces to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Orange Sauce:
    • In a bowl, whisk together the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
    • In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
  4. Combine and Simmer:
    • Reduce the heat to medium. Pour the orange sauce into the same skillet.
    • Add the cornstarch slurry to the sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce starts to thicken (about 2-3 minutes).
  5. Finish Cooking:
    • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the thickened sauce. Toss to coat the chicken pieces evenly with the sauce.
    • Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the chicken to absorb the flavors of the sauce.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove from heat. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
    • Serve the orange chicken over steamed rice or noodles.
Enjoy!!!
