Instructions:​

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    • In a small bowl, combine the active dry yeast, sugar, and warm water. Stir gently to dissolve the yeast and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
    • Use a wooden spoon or your hands to mix the ingredients until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough:
    • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Add more flour if necessary to prevent sticking.
  4. First Rise:
    • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 475ยฐF (245ยฐC). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  6. Shape the Crust:
    • Punch down the risen dough to deflate it. Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and divide it into two equal portions for two 12-inch pizzas or leave it whole for a larger pizza.
    • Roll out each portion of dough into a circle or rectangle of your desired thickness.
  7. Add Toppings and Bake:
    • Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or lightly greased baking sheet.
    • Add your favorite pizza toppings, such as tomato sauce, cheese, vegetables, and meats.
    • Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven.
    • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are bubbly and melted.
  8. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Try letting the dough rise in the fridge overnight. I think the cold fermentation really improves the flavor though. ๐Ÿฅถ

Well got blood work done today and hopefully some Med's to knock out this sinus infection that has made it to my lungs! Now I ready fo a pizza. Been a couple months. Looking for something like a hand toss style. A bit on the thicker style. Not had much luck making in the past. I have 00 flour. Going to make a cheeseburger kind of like Dominoe's with the ketchup mustard sauce and pickles. Anyone have a dough recipe I could not mess up? I can spend few days if have to and have some dried sourdough starter can bring back to life if needed.
