Ingredients:
Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp Hoisin Sauce (or use Oyster Sauce as a sub)
  • 2 tbsp Oyster Sauce (or sub with 1 ½ tbsp Hoisin)
  • 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine (or Mirin, dry sherry, sake, or any rice wine)
  • 2 ½ tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 tsp white sugar
  • ½ tsp sesame oil
  • ¼ tsp white pepper (or use black pepper as a sub)
Stir Fry:
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 lb (500g) ground beef (lean works well)
  • ½ cup sliced scallions (plus more for garnish)
Garnishes:
  • Sesame seeds
Instructions:
  1. Mix all the sauce ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, and cook for about a minute or until the onion starts to brown.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up as you go.
  4. Once the beef is browned, pour in the sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce has evaporated and the beef is fully cooked. If you like your beef a bit more cooked, you can add a splash of water and keep cooking, but I usually skip this step.
  5. Stir in the sliced scallions, then serve over rice, garnishing with extra scallions and sesame seeds if you like. For a low-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice.
This dish is quick, easy, and absolutely bursting with flavor! 🥡✨ Enjoy!
