This salt-grilled mackerel recipe brings out the natural flavors of the fish, resulting in crispy skin and tender, juicy meat that’s perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Saba no Shioyaki - Salt-Grilled Mackerel Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 mackerel fillets
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions:
1. Pat the mackerel fillets dry with paper towels.
2. Evenly sprinkle sea salt on both sides of the fillets and let them sit for 15-20 minutes.
3. Preheat your grill or broiler to high heat.
4. Grill the mackerel fillets skin-side up for about 5-7 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the fish is cooked through.
5. Serve the mackerel hot with lemon wedges on the side.
