Here are the ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 pound ground beef or diced steak
  • 1 potato, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, peeled and diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instruction:

1. Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the cold butter pieces and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the cold water, mixing until the dough comes together. Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

2. Prepare the Filling: In a separate bowl, combine the ground beef or diced steak, potato, onion, and carrot. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

3. Roll Out the Dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut out circles about 6 inches in diameter (you can use a plate or bowl as a guide).

4. Assemble the Pasties:
Place a generous spoonful of the filling mixture onto one half of each dough circle. Fold the other half over the filling to form a semi-circle. Press the edges together with a fork to seal, and cut a small slit on top of each pasty to allow steam to escape.

5. Brush with Egg Wash: Place the pasties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a golden brown finish.

6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is cooked through.

7. Serve: Let the pasties cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your homemade pasties warm!
