I tried this Shepherd’s Pie recipe recently, and it turned out to be a comforting and hearty meal! The combination of savory meat and creamy mashed potatoes is just perfect. Here’s how you can make it:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or lamb over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, carrots, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are soft.
- Stir in the tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens. Add the peas and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, then spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish.
- Spread the mashed potatoes on top of the meat mixture. If you like, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
